Default Media Storage

Does anyone know the best way to store about 36tbs of media would be, they consist of avi's, mpeg's, mt2 files etc...

The solution would need to allow easy access to the stored content. But at the same time archival in nature.

Price is an issue, so keep that in mind, if someone actually does this for a living, this could be something we may purchase so keep that in mind.

thanks

It won't be cheap but netfinity/EMC do solutions that are enterprise grade for this sort of stuff.

Mass storage of the kind you are talking about comes in two flavours:

NAS
SAN

Take your pick

hard disks are faster, cheaper, store more, more reliable, can be taken off site...

Have you converted your high-def content into regular data files yet? If so, how much space do they take up?

I would LOVE to backup my blu-ray dvd's into something more easily manageable.

1080p BLu-Ray movies compressed with x264 take up ~11GB per film depending on lenght
