Default server 2008 & SMB 2.0

hey all.

quick question. i have been reading over a few papers and reports of server 2008 and have a simple question

i know that it uses SMB 2.0 and 1.0. vista uses 2.0

with 2.0 all the way through there is a increase in network performance up to 3.3X

now question
running xp boxes with smb 1.0. the server will then fall back to 1.0 for its connections. am i correct to assume with with an 2008 server and xp work stations i will NOT see the network performance boost from 2008?

if not. does anyone know of a beta patch of smb 2.0 for xp?
