Default Winmgmt

We are having some latency issues with a Win2000 server, and looking at Task Manager, I see winmgmt.exe coming up periodically, and grabbing CPU useage. It is set to log errors only, but seems to be come up alot. Is there any issue with disabling winmgmt that anyone knows of?

It is part of the core O/S. It often utilises high CPU. this is because of the WMI subsystem and slow I\O to the disk. Toi increase system performance, follow the link and do as suggested. Also, disable the Indexing Service. in addition, if you have an "on-Scan" virus checker, exclude the indexes from being scanned.

Also, see this : http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;830075

I already checked to see if it was set for verbose reporting, but it wasn't. I'll try disabling indexing, thanks

Hard Drive might also be having issues as well, I would run some perf tools on them.
