I think partition magic needs enough free space to do what it needs to do in that type of operation. Are you getting any messages along those lines? You might try trimming the fat and see what you see. Good luck.

PM7 doesn't seem overkeen on merging. Easiest thing to do is move the date from your d partition to c. remove d and then resize c to fit the available space.
