I have a machine here that has a corrupt file: Windows/System32/Config/system is what is coming up on the black screen upon boot up. I am going to try to use the recovery console method, but I have no idea how to transfer the file from the cd to the proper folder. Would someone give me some pointers? Thanks, Heeter |

Your system is probably hosed. That is a main hive of the registry that is corrupted. If you don't have a very recent restore point you probably can't recover. Here is the mskb article on how to fix it: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545
