CD Locked?

Sometimes, after installing a program, the CD drive "locks up" as if I were burning something. That is, I can't open it at all. Even using the "Eject disc" command from the properties menu in My Computer fails. I have to restart my computer to "unlock" the drive. Any clue as to what could be wrong? Could it be the CD-R media that I used that's causing this?

In my case, the DirectCD process was still running, even though I didn't have any CD software running. Once I killed the DirectCD process, I could eject the CD using the eject button.
