I am about to set up a home network. What i need to know is - I have NIS installed on my main machine which has the internet connection, my second machine does not have it installed, if the second machine uses my internet connection does my firewall and anti virus work for anything downloaded ETC.or do i have to install it on the second machine???

You would need anti virus on the second pc but your firewall should protect your second computer.

You will need security software installed on the second computer to.

Your firewall on the host computer will let anything from the client out, so its a nice idea to have a firewall on the client to.

The firewall on the host will stop inbound attacks.
