Default MSI N1996 Motherboard

I don't know if anyone out there has a copy of these knows where to find them. I need the Motherboard drivers for a MSI N1996. Primarily to get the USB ports working properly. I've done some searching and have come up with nothing but soliciting links. Anyone have any ideas?

Looks like an HP motherboard part number. You need to get the drivers from them.

Next link has an auto detecti0on function to figure out what you need. Go to it from that MB.

Thought for the new millenium:

In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?

- Open Office - Firefox - Thunderbird - Gimp -Ubuntu - Red Hat -

Default Re: MSI N1996 Motherboard Drivers

I had the same problem trying to find my chipset drivers for the board. The only driver that worked from msi's website was the audio driver. Luckly, i just found the cd that came with the board with all the drivers on it. If anyone needs help finding the drivers, shoot me an email anytime and i will email them to you. ********Thank you Chris for the information you sent me about getting drivers for this motherboard. As you requested, here is what you sent me.
Go to http://www.inovative-sol.com/drivermax/ and download drivermax program for vista and xp. It has a free version, you must create a free account with them then using a username and password, login using the program. The program will backup all or your drivers to a file. If you ever have to reload your os, then use the backup that it made and reinstall your drivers. The free version only allows you to download 2 drivers per day, otherwise you need to buy their pay version. It took me 3 days to get all the drivers I needed for free! It was worth the wait! Thank you so very much Chris! Dave C. Chapwood@aol.com*************

Hi, well you guys have all been fooled by the N1996 in big alphanumerics. That some Australian certification number. The normal place for board numbers is between the PCI slots on most brands of motherboard. If you look there you will see MS-6178 ver x.x or some other number...
Ok the mystery is solved, the board is not N1996 but MS 6178 ver 1.1 in my True Blue PC. Go to MSI Global ? Computer, Laptop, Notebook, Desktop, Mainboard, Graphics and more Bios, driver, manuals, everything!

so ignore the N1996 on any board...and keep looking for the number between the slots.
