Default Zune Software support

As of right now it is not supported - installation initializes until it realizes you're not on XP SP2. I heard it was an issue with WMP11? But it does not make much sense - I use the Zune software on my laptop which is using XP SP2 with WMP11.

This is a minor setback - I transferred all of my music songs to my desktop running Vista final, only for it to be incapable of syncing my Zune! BUGGER!

(did I get that right, brits?)

Any information on why they don't support the software?

I've read about this, too, though I don't think I've seen a good explanation of why it's the case. That's got to be remedied in the near future -- I consider it a major annoyance.

Yes, It's a minor setback because I will forgive the Zune team.. they could not deliver a product in early November since Vista wasn't really even RTM until just a few days before it.

I am sure an update will be issued very shortly that will address the problem.. but obviously I thought I'd toss this topic up and see if anybody knew something I didn't - thats usually the case!

They've said it will be ready by retail release of Vista. whether they mean it won't be supported until then i don't know, but probably not

So I've been using the Zune software on Vista for a bit now and I am impressed with the installation changes. The software is working very well, no issues with the library & sending all of my music / videos from my laptop to my desktop.

Zune Software > iTunes

Specifically, because of this reason: when you plug a Zune into another computer that already has Zune software - it asks you if you want to let the Zune be a Guest or if you want to format your Zune and adapt the new library.

iTunes was terribly confusing and I misinterpreted their ****ty dialog box and ended up formatting my iPod.

Thanks for the supportive and helpful posts guys, I appreciate it

His comments about the Zune software versus the iPod interested me, mostly because I have had an iPod for like 3 years and I hate having to work with iTunes.

Seriously, one of the main reasons that I bought a Toshiba Gigabeat was due to the fact that it uses Windows Media Player 11. iTunes is a frustrating mess of a program. Just my 2 cents worth.
