Default windows media center vs XP home

is media center limited to all the home tv gui?
or can it look like the normal XP interface??

all the new laptops seem to have it,
but am afraid that it will not work like a real laptop??

MCE is based on Professional without the networking (domain) advantages. It works just like Professional (or Home for that matter) but has the media capabilities built-in.
