Default Outlook 2003, import contacts from Excel
hi,

I try to import contacts from Excel but I get an error message
(the records are in columns, each column a field)...

In addition I tried something else:
1) I create a record in Contacts
2) Export this in a Excel file
3) Pasted the records from my file
4) Import in Outlook
5) PROBLEM. Only the first record was imported

to overcome this I created 180 Contacts and again steps 2,3,4,5
and it was ok....

This doesn't seem right is there any other way, method. Some rules and conditions i should know?

I tried those steps (there is no other way) but in my case it doesn't seem so simple.

Not sure why it didn't work, dont know about any other way of doing it

In Excel, are you using unformatted text and saving the information as a CSV?

the error message i get in the first case is about "name ranges"

no, i don't use CSV...

all cells are in General format

listen to this!!!! Strange.!!???

I export a category in an Excel file, and send it to a friend. He made some changes and delete some Columns....

...and guess what? I couldn't import the new file (with allow duplicates ON)
