when i first turn my computer on, and log on, after about a minute the screen freezes and i can do nothing but turn off my comp. when i turn it on again everything is fine. what is the problem. thanx.

Try this:

Boot into Windows. Click Start - > Run, MSCONFIG

Choose the "Services" Tab. Check the box to "Hide All Microsoft Services. Once those are gone, disable all.

Go to the Startup Tab - disable all

Reboot

If the problem goes away, then it is definitely something loading with Windows. The reason why it may be best to go this route is it could be a hardware issue, but more than likely isn't.

After that, just start with enabling services/programs you know are safe, rebooting and seeing what happens.

ok. if i just leave it to load up the screen freezes. but if i move the mouse over the start button and icons so they are highlighted, the screen doesnt freeze.

woo i think it may have worked. i turned off everything and it didnt happen. so i ticked everything i no i actually use, and after reboot i touch nothing, and it doesn't freeze. i hope it is fixed now but if it happens again i will tell u guys. thanks to all of u.

I'd bet on Macafee causing the freeze - as KC mentioned, start reenabling the services one at a time to see which one is the culprit.

Not good to have AVG and Mcafee running at the same time. This may be part of your problem.

Also not good to have Windows messenger and MSN messenger running at the same time.

Click Start - > Run, MSCONFIG Choose the "Services" Tab. Check the box to "Hide All Microsoft Services. Once those are gone, disable all. Go to the Startup Tab - disable all Reboot If the problem goes away, then it is definitely something loading with Windows. The reason why it may be best to go this route is it could be a hardware issue, but more than likely isn't. Not good to have AVG and Mcafee running at the same time. This may be part of your problem. Also not good to have Windows messenger and MSN messenger running at the same time.
