Default backing up exchange

how do you guys back up exchange? do you back up the individual mailboxes *and* the stores? or just one and the other?

my backup is taking a long time and it's twice the size of the hard-drive, so it's obviously duplicating itself by doing both mailboxes and stores.

thanks for any replies!

The problem with doing nothing all day, is that you never really know when you're done.

I backup the brick level on the server using CA's BrigtStor (11.5) and the Exchange Agent.

We were using Commvault to do mailbox and store backups.. during a recent DR test, we had a lot of problems restoring the store (in that we never got the store back up and running) and are now doing NTBackups on the store (which we also succeded with in DR after failing with CommVault) and CommVault mailbox backups until we can get it all sorted out.

So it looks like some people are doing both mailboxes and store, while others mailboxes?

You should do both. The master database (MDB) and brick level.
