Windows Vista Beta 1 announced!

Microsoft announced the availability of Windows Vista Beta 1 at 9:05AM PDT this morning.

MSDN subscribers have already received their product keys. The beta build itself is not yet currently up on either MSDN or Microsoft Connect.

I remember paying 10 bucks for a windows xp beta.
i imagine the same thing will happen with this one?

Yeah, and it looks better on Vista too, with the glass borders and metallic tab gradients.

MSDN and TechNet have been updated to offer resources and guidelines to developers and IT professionals respectively. The Vista Developer Center on MSDN really has an awesome, fresh feel to it! Go take a look.

Which one has firefox. All I seen was IE7, it has all the same featrues as firefox, so you are probabmy mistaken it for that .. Than, I could be wrong. But I swear, I only seen IE ..

It's not open source, so extensions are not a part of IE. That could be considered one giant feature of Firefox, or hundreds of small ones.

Disclaimer: Not intending for this to be another IE vs. Firefox thing. Just stating the facts.

It won't be hard to find. No links will be posted here, obviously.
And you're correct. Branding is not a priority at this stage, so you'll still see "Longhorn" all around in this build.

Thanx netryder. It does look better with Vista .. I can't wait to try this out .. And Muzikool, I didn't think of the extensions. So I guess that could mean more ..

so what would be the justification of paying $500.00 + for an XP Pro full retail equivalent. besides the makeover, what are some of the benefits?

XP was hyped up to be the best. and for the most part it has been. i never issues, so no complaints. but with Vista, how can they make a system more uncrashable? the only annoyance with XP is the constant flow of security updates... and i can take a guess that Vista will be no different.

Will they make it more difficult to pirate perhaps?
