where can i find scandisk in xp ?

Open Windows Explorer> right click on the drive you want to check> properties> tools> error checking. Also, open help and support and look for 'chkdsk' to learn more about using this utility.

run chkdsk, its way better, type it at the command prompt

actually... scandisk is a 9x utility... the only error checking utility for xp is chkdsk, welcome to NT.
