Default Knowing build number xp WIHTOUTH INSTALLING (how?)
How can know the build number from an xp cd without installing, is there a file which holds the build number / how can i see it's the final and not a beta and NOT BY INSTALLING IT

NOT BY INSTALLING IT

I have now Home edition installed but i have the Pro version lying around here somewhere but i want to make sure it's a recent build (the final, 2600) WITHOUTH installing

Stick your CD in the drive, install XP. Just kidding, lol.

In the root directory of the cd, right click on the setup.exe file and select properties. The version number of this file should match the version of XP you have. Attached is a screenshot of the one I have:
