Question System Restore From DOS

Is there a way to do a system restore in Windows ME from DOS?

My son's computer gives an error that says windows has detected a registry/configuration error. Run Scanreg.

It then tries to go into safe mode, but when it gets to the safe mode screen, there are no icons on the desktop. The mouse works ok, but in task manager nothing is runing. I can boot up to dos with cd rom by using a boot floppy.

I tried running scan reg from dos, but it says it is a windows program and must be run within windows.

I have norton system works, but it is not loaded on that computer.

Please help. He does not want me to reload everything.

Thanks.

Default

Not sure you can run restore from DOS but since you are getting a "run scanreg" prompt you could try what is on this support page.
