Default Backup and install Group Policy Settings

I am a network technician at a small college. We run a network of Win 2000 machines running Novell clients. We use group policy settings to lock down the student and faculty PC's and keep them from doing things that they shouldn't. However, to really use it effectively requires several settings throuout the GPEdit snap-in. Then, to do repairs on the PC requires going back in and undoing all the policies. Is there a way to backup group policy settings, on a non-domain computer, and reinstall it? Ideally, I would like to have 2 backups, one backup with wide open policies so I can do my work, then another with all the lock-down policies in place to reinstall once the work is done. Is this even possible? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Jeff
