Can't you right click the file to uncheck the compress option?

In networking we learned that windows just does that on its own even if it is unchecked. Know one really knows why it does that but it just does.

Windows apparently does something like this to my c drive as it's only 5 gigs (yes too small, I know) and still keeps around 1 gig free despite getting filled with alla kinds of stuff, temp files and so on.
