Default Office 2003 and xp problem

I installed office 2003 on my parents computer and they ran it and did not like
it and wanted office xp reinstalled, when i did that all teh emails in 2003 are
gone and at the welcome screen it says 40 unread emails, how do i fix that or
disable so you don't see the unread emails.

It seems like the e-mails are still there. I use Outlook 2003 and it saves my emails as a pst file. It should be located under:

Documents and Settings > <account_name> > Local Settings > Application Data > Microsoft > Outlook

That's where the file should be. I don't think there would be a problem importing that with Outlook 2000 (if that's what they're using, or even Outlook Express).
