Thumbs down Multiple User Problems

question.. i dont really understand what it mean when you restrict one user from folders and if your in the same group as you it applies to both the users. if i give myself full permission to a folder and give the other user no permission to the folders it locks me out too.. but i can go in and change the setting to let myself in.. its really gay.. and i got some music videos off a friends computer and they wont work when i dont have simple file sharing enabled.. im confused.. still ned to pick up my windows xp for dummies book.. appreciate help with this, thanks

Permissions, AFAIK, are done by group, not by user. Administrator should not be locked out of anything though...If you want to hide data, encrypt the folder and put a password on it. As for that simple file sharing, I'm not sure, but I'm guessing it'd be because in order to share files from windows box to windows box (without using http/ftp) you need the protocol installed. Same reason why you can't access a 95/98 box from another without file/printer sharing enabled (at least access without hacking

Post ok

the best way is to remove all users but yourself in the permissions tab, give yourself full control and make sure that only your username is given access, not the whole administrators group, and if possible block inheritable permissions..

Being an MCP does have it's advantages
