Default I'm getting "Lycos side search" and just about every porn site coming on to my comp

Ok, I have a computer that is being infected with all these porn ads and "lycos side search" and "proscan" stuff. I think I get rid of the root files and they come back. How can I get rid of these files once and for all, and is there any software that can find the root files for me so that I can take these out?

Thanks
Mike

I think the thread should be moved to Windows Security since we're talking about spywares.

And use Spyware Blaster to stop them from ever getting there in the first place

if you use Spy-bot make sure you immunize and add the updated "host" files
so that it blocks those pesky PrOn sites

I recommend Webroot's SpySweeper, activate all the shields and you'll be fine...........

Spybot S&D and AdAware will do just as good of a job and do not cost a thing.

Now after you run those give this one a try and see what else you catch.

I have all the others also mentioned above and then ran this one last night and caught a nice little nasty version of gator embedded in some software..
