Need a prog to rip a cd that is in pretty bad shape.

dbPowerAMP Converter is very good and simple to use and best of all 100% free with no advertisements or spyware.

I use iTunes...can't beat a single-click to rip the CD, and the quality is great too. I personally use 192-256k mp3.
