thanx for the info...

i don't know how to boot up kernel 2.6 from my knoppix 3.7. it is defaulted with 2.4 but i came across some info saying that i should use the command knoppix26 from the ISOLINUX bootprompt, but i am a newbie when coming to linux and i have no idea of where to write this... i just know it does not work from the command-prompt...

i must say i don't care what happens to my current partitions... i have backed up the data i need and i just want to reinstall any os, but preferable a linux one since i am thinking of learning some linux...

At the boot prompt just put in "knoppix26" and it will boot w/ the 2.6 kernel. I have been doing this with my box and worked fine.

Sorry .. the "boot prompt" will be the screen you see after all the nice lines of stuff loading go by. It will have a prompt and directions to hit a couple "F" keys for options and blah blah. You want to type "knoppix26" at that prompt and hit enter to boot the 2.6 kernel.

true true i had problems with partition magic like once or twice but i know that one of the times was because i had a bad copy of it but other than that i'd say that partition magic works like 99% of the times it's really good
