Don't like to hang in forums much, but here is a cool XP tweak I have noticed:
If you use the "DisablePagingExecutive" registry tweak make sure that "Win32PrioritySeperation" has a "26" hexadecimal value. Makes everything nice and smooth. If someone else has already pointed this out sorry.

Can you please be a little more specific, I did reg search and couldn't find that entry, is in the same string as "DisablePagingExecutive"? [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management]
Is it an entry that needs to be added? And also what does it do if? |

Can anyone confirm this? It's been a long time since we've seen new tweaks

Sorry that isn't a tweak but the default Windows XP setting.
Win32PrioritySeparation 0x00000026(38) at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\PriorityControl means that in system properties > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced "Processor Scheduling" is set to "Adjust for best performance of programs" instead of "Background services". |

Sorry Yoyo but the default setting is "2". Background services setting is "18". My setting is "26", big difference.
If you don't like the tweak don't use it, but don't talk about things you don't know about. This isn't a way to encourage people to share their tweaks!!! |

Ok, you asked to make it complicated. 2 is the same as 26 (dec. 38).

"Best performance of Programs" = "2" "Background Services" = "18" The "26" hex value is unused and undocumented by Microshaft. If you don't want my tweaks then tell me, i'll go elsewhere.

It adjusts the Quantum Priority Matrix to share more cpu power with the kernel ok? Instead of arguing why don't you go try it.

I am trying it constantly, as I said before that is just the default setting.
Did you read the article I linked to? |

Yes, but I don't believe it simply because I notice a slight stutter with the default settings in the advance options that disappears using the 26 value while disabling Executive Paging

Sorry, I am used to 15 year-old brats attacking me and I was on the offensive, confounded forums. LOL

Polygon-Paradox, you're obviously new here, please don't start an argument on your first day of member ship.
I'm not going to side with anyone, but I will say that yoyo has been a member here for a long time and he knows what he is talking about, he is a very knowledgable person. |

I'm no expert at any one thing, however I belong to a myriad of forums and have worked for the man as a systems support specialist for years, and I have learned from various VP's and my memories in speech class ;-), that when one writes for others to read you must write in complete "process" and in 8th grade level.
What I mean by complete process is that you have to imagine what it is that you want your reader to do or understand and write in that fashion. I don't you mean you have to say in this case hit start/run/type regedit, most of us know how to get there if you say "open regedit". However now is where you have to guide your reader once we open regedit, with 'Key" information "sub-keys" etc. This is no way a critizism or bashing, just a mere helper post. Although I've hanging around NTFS for a longtime, I'm mostly a reader, however I do post from time to time ;-) |
