I reinstalled XP now I can't access my secondary drive. The only way I could see the contents is through the backup utility, which I could restore but NTFS prevents me from accssing it.

Like most of us here, I have my whole library in this drive :(

What can I do?

Can you see the drive in windows explorer? It is possible that you only need to set xp to use all drive letters.

Welcome to the forums Rizzo. :)

If you get access denied errors, you may have to take ownership of the folders. Log on as Administrator (if you are running XP Home boot to safe mode). Open Folder Options and disable "simple file sharing"(Last option on the view tab). Next right click the drive or the folders you can't access in explorer > sharing and security > security > advanced > owner. Change the owner to your username and check "replace owner on subcontainers and objects". Last reenable simple file sharing again.

I could see the drive in explorer. I will try your suggestion. I tried to log in as Admin in safe mode but I did NOT do the steps. I will try tonight and see if this will work.

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
