I think postnuke has more features, it has lots of addons as well.
but to be honest i hate them both. |

Well VirtuaNews is Superior and IBFPortal is neater, but i really don't like portals. they are too messy and i think that its easier to make your own system then spend time on hacking the portal and modifying it to your needs.

yea you can... although there arent many free hosting sites that support PHP and MySQL (Try this list http://www.oinko.net/freephp/ ).
