Default lag on ie load

whenever i load ie it takes anything up from 5 seconds to 30 seconds for the home page address to appear in the bar. once it appears the site loads. it used to just appear instantly then load but it stays blank until the address appears. why is it takin so long?

ie 5 / win me

Is "Automatically detect settings" checked under your LAN Settings? If so, you might try unticking it, because this can delay the page load when IE initially starts up.

This problem can also be characteristic of spyware that might be installed on your system. Did you notice the problem started happening after you installed anything in particular? Do you ever check your system for spyware (HotBar, Gator, etc.)? If not, then it would be worthwhile to download Ad-Aware and scan your system. Reply back with more info if the problem persists.
