Default IDE Cable connections
How is important to connect last connector to a primery drive and middle to a slave.
I have 2 HDD on a same IDE port and master WD ATA/100 is in a middle and slave MAXTOR ATA/66 at the end, but MAXTOR works at UDMA-2 not UDMA-4 as it should be. I tryed to change BIOS settings INTEL 845PEB2 but no luck.

Your IDE channel is only as fast as the slowest device on that channel, therefore; combining ata100 with ata66 means the the ide channel will run at ata66. This goes for hard drives and cd-roms
