WAN - WAKE-ON-LAN, this is the computers ability to wake up from a standby, when some data is recieved into the network card i.e a ping from another computer,
It does not have the function of starting you pc, booting from LAN is when your computer will use a mobile operating system on a local server to boot Skazz |

Usually it uses a wire that connects from your network card to the motherboard to get it to work. Not all network cards have this feature.
