If you want the best quality lossy codec, use MPC [Musepack]
If you want the best lossless coded, use Flac or Monkey's Audio If you want the most compatibility with portables and DVD players etc, use LAME mp3 Encoder Version 3.90.2 using --alt-preset standard as your command line. Also recommend that you use Exact Audio Copy to rip your cd's So, to answer your question, no, WMA 9 is far from being the best codec. It's better than older versions, but it's still the bottom of the barrel. |
