Default XP Repair

Strangest thing today. During the past year or so, I must have booted from the CD (origional XP Pro and slipstreamed) half a dozed times and run XP Repair using the repair option rather than from the console. Well, I tried it again today and this time after pressing enter, then F8 it did not offer the repair option, only an install option. I was not up to doing a clean install, just kinda wanted to bring things back into line a little bit, so I used F3 to quit and then tried it again with same results. Any ideas?

That has happened to me a couple of times but both times it was after I had managed to trash my XP installation. Wound up having to restore it with Ghost.
