Default dial up in like 2 mins?

some one i know has two pcs. one with win 98 french and win xp professional. the machine with professional dails up normally. the one with win 98 french takes like 2 mins to vertify the username and password. but these are on the same line so only one can connect at one time. that means its not from the phone line. what can it be some settings?

if you have 2 machines trying to connect to the same ISP account. you can't. unless you have a home network setup and are running ICS(internet connection sharing) on that XP machine.

think of it like this. you and a friend both have the same key, to the same locked door. can you both stick the key in the lock, to open the locked door, at the same time??

not at the same time. ovibuosly not at the same time if they are on the same phone line and not networked. im saying one machine connects normally and the other takes two mins just to vertify username and password!
