Default changing desktop location

Is there a way to change the location of the "desktop" folder in XP. For instance, I would like to move it to my D drive if possible.

Don't know why you want to move it and not sure if it may cause any problems, but you can simply drag your desktop folder to the new location. Use right mouse button -"move here".
Note that what you see on your desktop is the content of two folders, the All Users and current user desktop folder.
