set his up as a host.. it will answer the phone when you "dial" him I guess... but if you are not dialing in then I am not sure...
I know there are various FREE apps that will actually let you acess his desktop over the internet. I also use PC Anywhere on the local network |

Yeah I set my Fiance's computer up as the host, and on her IP address I can get in, but I need to find out if that's all it takes. I'm quite sure there are other settings that I need to know but I don't. I do know that I have to set up his computer to see my IP address, but that's all I know.

well I imagine if it works with your fiances... over cable or whatever then it will work the same way with cable -> dialup.
http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/ Thats the tool that does a similar job, alot of people find it less bloated and better than pcanywhere. |

Do I need to have the IP address from the user before I can log on to his system? His will be dial up, so what's the best way to get the IP address? I have his computer here so what do I need to either install or figure out in PC Anywhere so that when he goes online I can just tap in if needed?
Thanks again Mike |

You could tell him to get on IRC then you can DNS him from there... or Coolmon has an option to display the ip address on teh screen.
There also used to be an app somewhere that would uipdate your dns2go address to your current ip.. I never tried it tho, perhaps others have some more experience with this |

Ok, I put coolmon on both machines.. Very cool BTW. But now it's just how do I set up my DSL machine to talk to his modem machine with PC Anywhere 10.51. I know how to do the other setups like networking and stuff like that, but this is a bit different and symantec doesn't cover this part of it in there help topics or even there online documentation. HELP?????
Thanks in advance and thanks for all the help so far. Cheers Mike |
