Default snap to default button naughtiness

That really annoying option of having your mouse pointer snap to the default button is stuck on on my machine.

It is set to off in the mouse options in control panel
and i have searched the registry for SnapToDefaultButton and they are all set to 0
anyone got any other ideas?

Reinstall your mouse drivers. Simple, but effective. Make sure you restart your computer after the uninstall to delete any filefragments in the memeory.Windows should install standard drivers after the restart.

Also, just check to make sure you don't have more than one mouse driver loading (ie, if you use a non-MS mouse it's possible both the MS driver and OEM driver are loading). Though it's not a common occurrence, I've seen it happen more than once.

Never, NEVER use Windows update as your source for hardware drivers. When MS certifies drivers they frequently disable many of the advanced features built in by the OEM because MS feels they may - MAY - not interact well with some MS feature (frequently obscure). More often than not, nobody would ever be effected - but MS is very conservative with OEM drivers.
