Default incredibly slow response when right clicking in explorer...

i'm not sure when it started, but when i right click for the context menu (for a file or folder only) in an explorer window everything slllllllloooooowwwwwssss down... i'm confused.... any thoughts or suggestions or solutions perhaps? thanks in advance

Could be so many things. Have you run a virus scan? Checked for background apps hogging up resources. You might also try running the system file checker. Start\run then type "sfc /scannow" with out the quotes and make sure you have a space between the sfc and the / You will also need your XP install disk in the CD drive. Hope this helps Good Luck

when do the rightclick, explorer jumps to 99% cpu time in task manager.... wtf? will try sfc in the morning thanks
