Default best programs for recording dvd media?

to get 1:1 quality (since no other format is as good as dvd when it comes to quality, buy a dvd drive, and copy using Nero. Nero does it, right? Or you could just rip to massive hard drive and watch with windvd.

i`m getting a SONY DRU120A DVD+RW/+R & CD-RW Drive but i hear that the software that bundles with it isnt up to scratch.

off topic, but powerDVD is the best dvd software ive used so far...

as for ripping, I do not know....
