Default help! problem with opening folders

I was changing the icon for the folders in explorer, and for some reason this messed up the action that occurs when I double-click the folder. It was displaying Disk Information when I tried to open a folder, so I went into Folder Options-->File Types-->Edit to change the action. The Open action isn't even there now, so I tried the explore action using explorer.exe, which works but opens each folder in a new window. I guess all I need to know is what application performs the Open function. Also, is there a better way to change the folder icons than to go through File Types? Thanks!
