If I leave my computer on for any legth of time, which is always, all of a sudden any program I run gets real "jerky" and if you move the mouse around it is "jerky" also. Like min freezes. I am on a Sony Vaio running Win XP Home. I wrote Sony and of course they said it was a bug in XP. If I restart the computer it goes away, but it is really annoying. The first time it happened I thought my computer was fubar!

I don't know, I never really turned it on or off....it is just there.

I'm just not sure where on your system the "hibernate" thingy is. If someone could let Angeleyes know where this is, it'd be appreciated.....

Dump Real player anything, and any other programs that are running in the background.

Ah, ok, it's under "Power Options" in the control panel. check there and shut off the "stand by" stuff and the "Hibernate" stuff.....

Where it says to shut down hard drive and shut down monitor, you want to uncheck that stuff, or set it to "never" as well as the stand by thing, then go to the hibernate tab and uncheck that as well......

As well, look for a program called "savenow.exe" running in the background. That bugger has been a real problem with systems.

I found the hibernation, one box said hibernation and it said never. But then under the hibernation tab, enable was clicked, so I unclicked it. I did get rid of all the REAL stuff that came on here, someone just told me other day to do that. But there is at least 4 other programs running in the background, and me being computer illiterate, I dont want to get rid of them, knowing me i WILL make my computer FUBAR if I do! LOL

WEll Joey, where the hell do I find that savenow.exe? Or are you just messing with me?

Mainly, delete the stuff under programs>startup....

Find out what all the stuff is next to your time (lower right corner) and get rid of what you can. If you have virus software or something important like that, leave it, but lots of things that are loaded by computer manufacturers is junk and needs to be taken out. You can get rid of a lot of it thru the control panel>add/remove software area.......

lol, do a control+Alt+Del and that should show a list of tasks running (I think, Not running XP here) if you see it kill it and do a find on savenow.exe then del them. darn Adbot ware..

....make sure you don't kill "explorer" or "systray".......:D

Oh, yeah, that stuff doesn't show up in XP anymore, does it?????

MY BAD!!!

Eolis, you are so very helpful, thanks so much! I have local area connection in there, which is always x'd out, something called Vaio action setup, Adobe Gamma Loader.exe , power reg scheduler, all this is only what I know runs on start up and continues to run.

Angeleyes, I'd really like to see ya let the machine sit for awhile and then see if it does the same thing with hibernate off. That's a big deal and a real culprit when you try to get everything running again. And again, make sure all the stuff under power options says "never" also. This should help.......

Ok, I will do that, thanks again so very much for your help and your time!!!!

You can get rid of the "Adobe" thing and the "Scheduler" thing, but not sure what the Vaio Action Setup thing deals with. Probably a waste of resources, but you'd need to make sure.....

Good luck:D

PS: I'm in Phoenix........:p

Also Hi EP and people. I found this place again while looking through a oooollllllldddd backup. I have filled over 10TB and was looking at my collection of antiques. Any bids on the 500Mhz Win 95 fix?
Any of the SP crew still out there?
