I hope that someone can help.
Let's say I have a friend who has a 'version' of Office XP which he is unable to update to SP-1.
The problem is that he gets an error message saying
Can not update c:\config.msi\PT186.TMP it may have been updated by another means....
Does anyone have a clue as to why this could be happening.
I have heard of similar things happening if the CD Key isn't valid, but it's not the famous DevilsOwn one, although MS might have cottoned onto this one by now.
Is is the key or the actual installation files that are to blame for this?
Many Thanks
