When you say you used the "Devils Own Cdkey", you mean you used the FCKGW Key? As i said before, this key is not unique to Devils Own (a pirated version of winXP Corp) because the FCKGW key works for all versions of Windows XP Corp (Legit or pirated). I was under the assumption that the FCKGW key only worked for Corp and not Pro (yes i know Corp is Pro but theres a differance).

If you do have Windows XP Corp then you should follow the guide mentioned in this thread and change the CD-Key to one you got from somewhere elce (such as a Keygen or by calling microsoft saying u lost your key). But if your copy of XP is just Pro and not Corp then i'm afraid the guide will not help and the only way to change your key would be to format/re-install windows.

If your Product Key is 555274-640-000035623xxx (xxx can be any 3 numbers) then you should not download/install Service Pack 1 untill you can get a new copy of Windows XP (with its own CD-Key), Or install WinXP with a new Cd-Key.

You wouldn't have to change your product id/cd key if you had any version of xp besides corp, for obvious reasons.

I don't use any pirated software. I know it seems like an innocent type of crime but, never-the-less it is a crime. It starts with pirated software and may escalate to mugging senior citizens for their Social Security checks. One must draw the line clearly and concisely when it comes to right and wrong. Many little wrongs escalate overtime into a giant/serious wrong (this is human nature and has no favorites).

Now this guide seems to go directly against everything i read in the forums, it seems to be a work around for those who have pirated XP and are worried about not being able to install SP1. Do i think its wrong to post this? No, i infact copied this down for my own uses, whatever they may be. But do i think this goes against what has been stated before in the forums? Yes it seems to go directly against it, i have seen many post saying such as We do not support or offer any help in pirating software....ok now i leave this up for discussion. If you feel i am wrong in my thoughts please discuss i want to actually get feedback and not flames.
