u can't without 3rd party software, like partition magic

Why would you want to? There's no point really. Unless you want to run Win9x that is.

As long as the partition you want to convert isn't the one your OS is on then just empty it and format it in the ususal fashion. I don't know of a way to convert it with data on it without using partition magic.
