Right, straight to the point When you go on a site and you select a file you want to download, ya click on the link and a box pops up right. It then says sommit like trying to connect to 'blah blah blah' With a progress bar. It then, from there, goes to a screen giving you an option to run the file from its current location or save file to disk. Well, in the last few weeks i have lost the ability to get past the connecting to site box. This is well annoying, cos, well it basically means i can't download anymore!! I am NTL broadband cable (512k) I live in Nottingham (UK), and my router i believe is Basford (Notts). Any help would be much appreciated! Tom |

Try using a download manager to bypass what is going wrong. They are simple to use.
NetVampire: Flashget: ect. |

Also, try right clicking on the link -> save target as. See if that helps.

You may have some messed up files. Go to my computer. Right click on your C: drive. Choose properties. Then click on tools. Where it says error click that. The next screen you will see 2 boxes. Put a check in both of them. Then click start. The next window will ask you a yes and no question. Select yes then reboot. On boot up you will see the check disk program run in a blue screen. This is normal. This test will take about 5-30 minutes. Depending on how big your hard drive is. Your system will reboot when test is done. Get online and try again. Also if you have a virus program you might want to scan for one. Hope this helps. O yea, when was the last time you did a defrag? A file can become so fragmented that the computer can't find it. And things will quit working like their supposed to. If you don't know how to defrag I'm sure someone here will tell you.

Problem is sorted now guys.
Turns out that by me accidently deleting my NETWORK ICON on my desktop it seems to have messed the whole lot up, lol. I just deleted the user account and then re-activated it. Problem solved
