I got a home network where my brother and I both run XP Pro and are connected thru a switch and NIC's. We used the Home Networking Wizard to set it up. I have NTFS and he runs FAT32. Everything is great EXCEPT when I want to open the folder where my brother's music is stored. He has 17 GIGS of music in that folder. I made a shortcut to it on my desktop and when I click it, It takes about 3-4 minutes before I can see his music file list. I have tried Mapping the network drive (would that do it?) but I have not seen any improvement. Is there anything I can do to increase the speed of this? |
