Default Network shares - name length.

If you share a file in XP and the name length is more than 12 characters, It can not be seen by win95/98/me/nt4.

But! I used to be able to share names longer than that in win9x and see them.
Not as long as they can be in XP but definately longer than 12 characters.

What's the deal with that? Is there a tweak to make it compatible with win9x's way of doing long sharenames?

Cool

No I never noticed it. Never thought about it.
Why not use short names?
