It's not scandisk, it's checkdisk. And because that's the case, you really can't replace it. Even Norton Disk Doctor doesn't do it. Checkdisk has to run from outside the gui (for lack of a better term, let's call it "DOS level"). NDD will check for errors, but if you want to repair errors you have to run chkdsk.
