Question Remote Access (How Do I set it up?)

Hi,

I have my PC (XP Pro) set to allow remote access and have added my account to the user list. I have ADSL and always leave my PC on.

What I want to know is how do I access my PC from a remote PC that also has XP Pro on it?

Thanks in advance...

Regards

Dave

on the machine you wish to access yours from go through the start menu
start > programs > accessories > communications > remote desktop connection
then simply tap in your IP (should be static with adsl) and user/pass then change any options you want and click connect
simple!

Hi SpeedYB

Thanks for the reply...

Will Zone Alarm let me past or does it need to be adjusted?

Port 3389 needs to be available
BUT i've always used it without a firewall ... my friend uses Zonealarm and cannot get it to work with it even after allowing port 3389 ... Maybe you'll have better luck...

Cool

Well it probably uses more than just 3389. My guess 3389 is just for initiating the connection. Then the data is probably sent on another (or several other) ports.

Rather Zone Alarm, it has more configurability. You'll need that if you want Remote Desktop to work.
