Default program downloading
I don't if anyone has run into this , but hopefully someone has a answer, my wife's laptop will not complete a download from any site other than windows update, and program updated already installed on the system. I tried to download firefox to see if this would help, but the download stops at 99% and stalls at that point, any help would be great.

what program are you using to download? and is it using an nvidia network card?

She only using windows itself, the laptop network card, unsure.

when you say she is using windows do you mean IE? - do you have all the latest driver files for the laptop?

all that will download. Just tried to download IE8, wouldn't finish, just stalled at 99%.

Shut down the antivirus (make sure it is shut down by going into processes) then try your download.

What may be happening is your AV is scanning the download after it completes.

I know that my AV (Kaspersky) scans the download after it completes. During this time the download window will hang at 99% then after the scan is complete the window goes to 100%.

This can take a long time on big downloads so be patient if this is what is happening to you too.

same happens with eset - pita to be honest as it freezes FF
