Default Router Firmware

I have a WRT54GL router and have been using the latest default firmware for it for quite some time. I am in the mood to change, here so many good things about the Tomato Firmware and the DD-WRT Firmware.

So I am wondering your opinions on which one is better, which should I try?

Try both

It is my understanding that DD-WRT has more features however.

I run Tomato on mine and it works great, but never tried DD-WRT.

My cable provider gave me an intergrated cable modem/router by netgear that doesn't support custom firmware ( can be switched to modem only though) otherwise I'd be using DD-WRT until I find a job that lasts long enough to enable me to afford the additional electricity costs to run a second pc and pfsense 24/7

How do you input your own custom DNS with Tomato? Seems more complicated then the default firmware.

It's under: Basic -> Network -> Static DNS
